These sculptures have been made from wattle and daub with a wire structure.    The clay is mixed with hair, hessian and string which forms the daub.  Pigment from rivers and my allotment colour the sculptures.  The process of preparing the material is important in this work as it includes digging and sourcing the clay, washing and sieving to make it usable as well as mixing, grinding and heating the pigment.  The sculptures are complimented with bold luminous paintings that reference the earth and elements.

These pieces were made in 2019 during a 4 week residency that culminated in a solo exhibition, as above so below at Maker Space at Portland Works Sheffield.
